Micheal Tabor

Co-FOUNDER

Michael was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. His parents were both educators. He has lived and worked in New York City and Atlanta before moving to Portland. Michael brings a broad array of experiences, from professional modeling, to homelessness, to high-powered sales and service, to the ministry. His compassion for those living and struggling on the streets grew from a time in his life when he “was there”. As Executive Director and co-founder, Michael leads the Saturday Samaritan team with a vibrant and creativity energy, a service-minded commitment, and inspirational joy.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Marilyn Johnson

Co-FOUNDER

Marilyn worked at OMSI for 19 years as Director of Education and as Science Director.  Before that she taught at Lewis and Clark and Goshen colleges, did field work in Appalachia, worked with Seattle's Hunger Task Force, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines.  She has a PhD in Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts.  Since Marilyn retired in 2015, she has put her heart and soul into Saturday Samaritans, bringing hugs, conversation, and homemade cookies to people on Portland's streets.

Linda Acedo

Volunteer Coordinator

Linda has worked with intervention programs for parents and children for about 15 years. She has her AA degree in education and BA degree in human development and family studies. Since being semi retired, she is working part-time at transition home for parents. She join Saturday Samaritans in 2015 and enjoys connecting with people in the Portland communities.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Jerry Peterson

Lead Chef | Southern Grill Catering

JP is a dedicated volunteer with a passion to help those disadvantaged and forgotten people in society get another chance. For him feeding the homeless is a priority and the tip of the iceberg in helping our people rise from poverty.

 
 
 
 

Michael Grimshaw

Board Chair

Michael has 10 plus years of experience in the non-profit and NGO sector, specifically in technology and compliance.  His background includes consulting on cybersecurity issues for international NGO's as well as working on technical compliance issues for the CFO's office of a large non-profit with a footprint in over 180 countries.  Additionally, Michael has served on the boards of both startups as well as other non-profits.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Philosophy as well as graduate studies in late bronze-age languages.  When not volunteering with Saturday Samaritans, Michael works in technology infrastructure engineering.


 
 
 
 

Jennifer Grimshaw

BookKeeper

Jenn has her Bachelor of Science degree in business and has spent numerous years in banking and bookkeeping. She started working with Saturday Samaritans in 2016. When not volunteering with Saturday Samaritans, Jenn volunteers at her sons school and is busy starting up her own business.
